Jawali is well known for Shree Jawal Siddhanath (Nathbaba / Kal Bhairavnath ). Siddhanath is
believed to be incarnation of Lord Shiva. Siddhanath is kuldaiwat (Clan god) of
adjacent regions and one of among several regional Kshetrapal (protective) gods
of Maharashtra. The God in this temple is reincarnation of Mahadev / Lord Shiva
even called as NathBaba. Jawali is
situated on the way of Shikharshingnapur. Idols of Shri Siddhanath
and Jogeshwari devi (Jogubai) in the form of goddesses Shiva and Parvati are here. This God had two wives one
stays with him called Godess Jogeshwari and other wife that is Godess Zakabai.
A festival called Jatra / Yatra of lord Shri Siddhanath which is
celebrated here every year in Chaitra (Krishna
Paksha, Saptami/ Ashthami) by the devotees. In this festival, a palkhi and sasan kathi of Siddhanath is taken around
the town by the devotees. Lord Shri Siddhanath lagna sohla(Marriage ceremony) with sasan kathi perform in jatra. This is
a great festival where lakhs of devotee from all over Maharashtra visits Jawali
for this yatra season every year. In 4-5 yatra days most of the devotees stay here in pandal. Shree
SIDHHANATH is KULDAIVAT of Agawane, Bagade, Bhoite, Bobade, Gophane, Kamble, Mane, Nimbalkar etc. surname CLAN , where
Bhoite having first right to worship God however after the marriage ceremony the palkhi comes first to Gophane family to worship.
History: this place was ruled by Nimbalkar dynasty at Phaltan
taluka, Satara district, Maharashtra, India. The main ancestral city of the
Nimbalkar is Phaltan, though they are also found in other regions Marathas
inhabit. The clan is linked to other clans prominent in Maratha history: Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's first wife and Dharmaveer Sambhaji Maharaj’s mother Maharani Saibai was from
the Nimbalkar family. Deepaabai, the wife of Maloji Bhosale (Shivaji's
grandfather) was also from a Nimbalkar family.
